Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR) Tripeptide Bioregulator
Mechanism of Action
Ultra-short synthetic tripeptide proposed to penetrate cells and interact with chromatin/regulatory proteins, modulating expression of genes involved in neuronal apoptosis (caspase-3), antioxidant defense, and neurotransmitter synthesis. In aged-rat models it reduces oxidative/free-radical markers and caspase-3 activity in brain tissue under hypoxic and hypothermic stress, and improves spatial learning performance (Morris water maze) more than the related peptide Cortexin.
